Under the banner; 'An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'
Arab Orient Insurance Company (AOIC), along with event co-organisers medical laboratory pioneers ‘MedLab’, The Ministry of Health, and the administration of the ‘Ministry of External and Foreign affairs’, conducted a Free Medical Day on the 29th of May, intended for the interest of Ministry body staff and employees.
Far from unusual, this event was designed to encourage Ministry staff and employees to adopt and pursue healthy life styles by considering the best preventative measures for their own best interests, their families, and their colleagues.
Ministry Secretary-General His Excellency Mohammad Al-Nsour explained how “the government’s efforts cannot be concluded in the public insurance programmes that offer medical treatments to the public; we’re committed to our duty towards the public, and our comprehension of the effect of spreading medical and preventative awareness amongst the people, and this event –thanks to Arab Orient Insurance Co. and MedLab, complements to the employee-interest driven workplace policy constitution throughout government public bodies”.
On scene Arab Orient Insurance Co. Deputy CEO /Medical Insurance & Customer Care - Mr. Mustafa Melhem elaborated further on how ‘any official public or private body’s vision of a productive working environment’ should be ‘based on its understanding of the major contribution and enrichment that mental and physical wellness can surely bring into the general atmosphere of an organisational workspace regardless of the nature of the establishment’.
In line with the customary discourse of all recent Arab Orient Insurance Co. efforts fueled by the company’s commitment to societal welfare, Melhem said “this is not our first appearance in public community health and awareness events; our continuous contribution to society, to public health and preemptive awareness has proved our intentions to optimise lifestyle values over profit; contrary to the belief of what a for-profit establishment aims for”.
The event featured a comprehensive series of tests and medical examinations conducted by MedLab specialists, and AOIC Consultant Physician, aimed to “illustrate with profound medical results the importance of leading healthy lifestyles, and persuade Ministry staff and personnel to contribute to their own welfare”, as Isam Abdelkhaliq – Company CEO, put it.
All over, the event was a success, and the number of employees who stepped forward for the examinations and attended the short illustrative medical sessions was considerably unexpected. On the other hand, Ministry officials and representatives have expressed their appreciation and content of the events results and outcomes.
Hence, it is expected that that is not going to be the only venture of its kind; and that further programmes are being organised and scheduled in line with the growing public and private interest in employee welfare.
